Intro to Journaling

0%

Well hey there, Writer-buddy, and welcome to the Writers’ HQ Intro to Journaling course!

We’re so glad you’re going to be writing along with us.

Journaling is a lovely, gentle, and adaptable creative practice that really takes the pressure off writing while still giving you a great reason to open your notebook.

Whether you’re brand new to the practice, or a seasoned diarist in need of a jump start, we’re here to help you develop a journaling habit that enriches your writing (and well-being) with an accessible intro to the art of journal writing.

Over the next seven lessons we’ll be spoiling you with a whole heap of journaling tips, inspiration, writing exercises, and techniques to tap into your subconscious, semi-conscious and sometimes even conscious brain. We recommend setting aside 30 minutes or an hour a day to read the lesson and work through the exercise, but you can also go at your own pace if you need.

We’ll be ready and waiting for you in our private writing forum when you want to check-in, update your progress, post up your writing for feedback, or just chat to your fellow WHQers. Our amazing community is full of writers just like you who write hard, procrastinate even harder, and are always there to offer a kind word, some sage advice, and a ridiculous gif.

So if you haven’t already, come and say hello on the forums.

You can also check out our Monday morning journaling workshops for more tips, inspiration, and journal-y camaraderie! It’s a great way to make journaling a regular habit and a lovely way to start your writing week.

Giving yourself permission to write is one of the hardest things to do. But you’re here. You’ve signed up for this course and by golly you’re gonna take that time and make the best of it. Because your writing matters. You deserve to set aside time to explore your creativity. You’re worth it, as they say. <hair flip>

If nothing else, let these exercises remind you of that every day. No matter how busy you are, you can – at the very least – find 20 minutes to read each email, scribble some notes, and feel like you’ve done something.

20 minutes.

That’s all.

No pressure.

It’s all good.

So let’s begin.
