Starting on Monday 1 December, we’re going to ease you into the festive season with five whole days of writing-based frolics, pep, prompts and sweary lols. Sounds perfect, right?
We’re giving you a quiet little space where you can hide out from your racist uncle, ignore the multiple impending apocalypses and pretend you’re not about to obliterate your bank account on crap from Ali Express.
And! After the five days are done, you’ll have written a brand new story. Or maybe five brand new stories. Or a number of new stories between one and five. Who knows? We certainly don’t. We’re writers, not mathematicians, goddammit.
We’re packing into five days what the song does in 12. We are compact. We are condensed. We are concentrated.

How much time will I have to do the course?
We’ll send you an email every day for five days and they can live in your inbox for as long as you like.
Can you really learn creative writing?
Yes, much like you can learn to paint or play music or learn any other art or craft. But this course isn’t about learning creative writing per se. It’s just practicing, just playing about. Just having fun.
Will I get a publishing deal?
Not as part of Five Days of Write-mas, and not through Writers’ HQ.
Be very wary of anyone who promises you publishing riches beyond your wildest dreams.
Will you read my fiction?
Alas! We love your stories but Team WHQ is a very smol team made of very smol people so we cannot personally read your stories. However! The forums are full of writers and readers sharing work and feedback and support, so that’s your go to place.
I don’t like swearing or jokes forged in the depths of the Internet
