Can I donate to your bursary scheme?

We welcome all donations, big or small, one-off or regular.

Can I apply for your bursary scheme?

You most certainly can! Anyone can apply for the bursary, and we prioritise the following:

  1. People who are physically disabled in some way
  2. People who are neurodivergent or have a mental illness
  3. People from a minority or persecuted community
  4. People living in a low income household (typically defined as a household earning under £15,000) and/or in receipt of social security
  5. People with a criminal record
  6. People who are the primary carer for another human with high needs
  7. People who are struggling in other ways and just really need to write some kickass stories.

We don’t ask for any form of means testing or background checks: just tell us a little bit about yourself and your situation, send us a writing sample and we’ll do our best to help.

What is free membership?

Writers’ HQ free membership gives you access to our monthly FREE creative writing courses, online retreats, journaling workshops, and weekly flash fiction writing challenges. Plus an invitation to join our kickass writing community with writers from all over the world. Phew, what’s not to love! And yes, it’s ACTUALLY free. We might occasionally do some marketing jazz hands at you and ask you to join us as a fully fledged member, but there’s absolutely no pressure.
