Easy. It’s a full-year bundle of Plotstorming, retreats, writing and momentum!
But life keeps happening.
Laundry keeps happening.
Your inner critic keeps happening.
Time keeps disappearing.
That’s why we’ve built a simple, powerful, structured way to get your novel written in 2026 – using stuff Writers’ HQ already does brilliantly, and has done for over a decade!
No fuss.
No gurus.
No overcomplicating.
Just a plot, a plan, and a whole bunch of glorious writing days surrounded by other writers who actually get what you’re going through.
1. Plotstormers: How To Plot A Novel
January is plotting season! Start your year with a clear, structured plan for your novel using our famous, five-star course. Plotstormers starts on January 16th, so you can work through it with a whole bunch of other writers and get a solid novel outline ready to go by February. We give you the blueprint. You bring the glorious, chaotic genius.
2. Choose from 22 × One-DayWriting Retreats and 11 x Online Writing Retreats(Jan–Nov)
Two Saturdays per month. In real life and online. Focused writing time.
No distractions.
No chores.
No excuses.
You can attend retreats at ANY Writers’ HQ location. Birmingham. Bradford. Brighton. Chichester. Edinburgh. Leeds. Walthamstow. If we run it, you’re welcome there.
Pick and mix. Travel around. Or stay loyal to your favourite venue. Your novel, your rules, natch.
3. 12 Months of Writers HQ Membership
It’s not just the pep talks, the resources, and the accountability. It’s a community of feral, determined writers keeping each other on the wagon.
Your membership gives you Plotstormers in January, Wild Draft month in March, the Write a Novel Festival in June, another Wild Draft month in July, Write November in, uh, November. PLUS! Write-alongs every week all year round AND a monthly writerly support group where you can ask your questions and get help troubleshooting your problems.
Every WHQ retreat delivers serious writing time.
On average, writers produce 3,000–5,000 words during a retreat day.
We’re keeping it realistic and achievable:
Your target: 3,500 words per retreat
Attend 20 and you’ll see out the year with 70,000 words. You can’t argue with maths!
📝 A whole draft.
🗓️ One year.
💥 Boom.
And so what if you miss a few. You’ll still end the year with tens of thousands of words and more momentum than you’ve ever had.
– Writers who are tired of ‘wanting to write a novel’
– Writers who need structure, deadlines, and bodies in chairs
– Writers who love retreat days and want to stack up their word count
– Writers who don’t want 1- 1 coaching – just space, time, and support
– Writers who want a draft DONE by November 2026

Sarah & Team WHQ
"The WHQ Writers’ Retreats are pure alchemy! To be alongside fellow writers — whether IRL or online — while channelling our individual stories, characters, whatever it is we’re working on is very special. It gives you accountability, yes, but I always come away feeling inspired and desperate to continue whatever it is I’m working on. I’m incredibly grateful to the WHQ’s community for keeping me on track and inspired. I’d recommend it to anyone who fears the blank page!"
Samuel Burr, Sunday Times Bestselling Novelist
The widget that lets you sign into the forum with your WHQ login has given up.
We are trying to coax it back into existence. So far neither bribery, begging or crying has worked. We are currently trying shaking our fists at the sky and going ‘grrrr’.
You can still get to the forum though! Do this:
IMPORTANT: This means you will have TWO (2) passwords/logins. One for the WHQ main site and one for the forum. It’s a pain in the arse. We’re sorry. It is temporary, but at least you can dick about on the forum again. OKAY BYE.
Once you hit the button, you’ll get a confirmation email, and we’ll send you the Zoom link an hour before the event.
Check your inbox for details.
If you don’t get an email, check your spam fist and then wang us a line on he**@**********co.uk and we’ll leap into action with keenness and speed.
