Holy fountain pens, Batman. The WHQ crew are representing pure wordy excellence once more in a bumper month of writerly wins, publications, longlistings, shortlistings, wins, honourable mentions, and general being magestic literary beasts all over the shop.

Julia was longlisted for the Urban Tree Fest writing competition and the March Furious Fiction competition, had a recent Flash Face Off piece accepted by Funny Pearls, won the I Am Not a Literary Magazine’s prompt competition AND has a piece out in Anamorphoseis Magazine! Phew! 🌟

Fiona has 2 stories on the Strands International longlist along with Mallika, Claire Schân, Denise and Julia! 🌟

MattG had an acceptance from Soor Ploom Press for a piece inspired by a WHQ prompt and received his author copy of Myth & Lore zine! 🌟

Heather, Kathy, Julia, Denise, Danielle and Fiona are on the Flash500 longlist! 🌟

Darren has a story in the latest Anansi Archive anthology! 🌟

Rebecca had a story, Extracts from the Mission Log of Dr Alex Wilson, accepted for the Professor Feiff’s Complete Pocket Guide to Xenobiology for the Galactic Traveller on the Move anthology: 🌟

Kirsti completed the second draft of her novel! 🌟

Jan has a blog post up at Pen & Sword, and performed a reading in Exeter as part of the Baedeker commemoration! 🌟

Alexandra has had a translation extract published in an academic journal after winning second prize in the 2021 John Dryden literary translation competition! 🌟

Rachel Marie came 2nd and Jo C came 3rd in the Propelling Pencil Flash Fiction Competition! 🌟

Emma was longlisted in the Globe Soup 7 day challenge and made it through to Round 2 of the NYC Midnight short story competition! 🌟

Kelly had a poem accepted at Streetcake magazine and an interactive, experimental piece is now up for viewing at Voidspace! 🌟

Lily had a poem published in Makarelle!

Fiona’s novella-in-flash made the Reflex Press Novella Competition longlist! 🌟

Heather had a very nice acceptance from Panoply for a piece that was born in a Tuesday morning WHQ write-along session! 🌟

Julia, SarahKat, Heather and Joyce B are also on the Retreat West longlist! And Paula, Katie H, Fiona, Heather and Darren are on the Northern Gravy longlist, too! Classic WHQ excellence at work! 🌟

Darren came third in the Anansi Archive flash fiction contest with his story ‘Dissonance’ (which was written in response to a WHQ prompt) and came second in the Curtis Brown Creative monthly #writeCBC micro flash! 🌟

Sarah R has also been busy with an acceptance from Full House Magazine for a piece inspired by a WHQ challenge, another acceptance from Bear Creek Gazette, and THREE FFO stories accepted by Crow & Cross Keys – smashing those #LitMagGoals! 🌟

Alex’s poem ‘Blue Sky Over Sunflowers‘ was a finalist and honourable winner in a Poems for Ukraine contest and will be published in an anthology to raise funds for the DEC appeal! 🌟

Lee wrote about Volunteering for the RNLI! 🌟

Liz and a friend delivered an hour-long workshop on the joys of writing flash! 🌟

Karen was longlisted for Invisible Cities’ Blurred Genre competition! 🌟

Kati made the longlist for the Fish Publishing Flash Prize with a FFO story! 🌟

Katie H had a FFO piece accepted by Moss Puppy and another by Crow & Cross Keys!

Angela set herself a challenge to write 52 things in 2022 – she’s already up to 14 and has submitted her third competition entry! 🌟

Anne worked with a musician writing lyrics for a song! 🌟

Linda entered two competitions and took part in a 30-day prompt challenge, with two of her pieces being chosen as ‘story of the day’! 🌟

Noémi, Iona and Caroline all have pieces in the latest issue of Janus Literary! 🌟

Helen C pitched and had an article accepted! 🌟

JP had a piece accepted by Honeyguide Lit for their insect-themed issue, and her botanical apocalypse story, Sliver, is up on the beautiful Hyacinth Review! 🌟

Saffron has written a poem every day since January 1, and is on course to go the whole 365 days! 🌟

Sarah is in issue four of Noctivagant Press! 🌟

Samuel’s debut novel has been picked up by Orion Books! 🌟

NoΓ©mi had an acceptance from Ellipsis Zine!

Lisa signed with an agent! 🌟

Harley finished the Balance Your Writing Life course AND edited a short story! 🌟

Kelly had a short piece accepted in Bullshit Lit’s first anthology! 🌟

Jessica has been chugging away at her novel! 🌟

Angela finally took the leap into fiction, and started Plotstormers! 🌟

Kathryn has a hybrid piece called Unbinding up at Bending Genres! 🌟
