In this workshop, we’ll break fiction down into different levels of a ‘literary dig site’. Participants will work through a series of exercises designed to help them create and build a new piece of intentionally layered fiction which future readers can excavate for clues, and will consider both micro and macro edits to further enhance the piece. This is a high level workshop for intermediate to advanced writers, and will focus on specific craft techniques which can be applied to both short story work and novels.
Readers will learn how to intentionally layer their own work, to use sensory imagery to create emotional ‘anchors’, and how to edit to ensure the core narrative remains steady no matter how deep we delve.
