Community is an experimental series of 12 writing workshops throughout 2025 exploring togetherness, collaboration, creativity and here-ness.
Each Community is a monthly workshop where we come with what we’ve got – where we are in life, what the season is, how the news is, how we’re feeling, whatever is going on – and use those to prompt each other to write.
Small notes. Big ideas. New stories. Old stories. Individual stories. Collaborative stories. Whatever comes up.
The dream of this experimental series? That it becomes a forum for sharing and working together to create something truly collaborative and gorgeous.
How it works
At the start of each session, you’ll be invited to share something in the chat, and Sarah will bring some prompts to help you along. It can be anything: how your day has been, something you saw earlier in the day, the way you’re feeling, what the weather is like, what’s going on in your life. It can be trivial or fundamental or funny or serious. Anything you like.
We’ll browse through these fragments and pick the pieces we vibe with. Then we’ll write in short sprints and see what comes up.
Through writing sprints, conversation and collaboration, we’ll see what grows.
Who you are
A new, mid or experienced writer who wants to explore writing from a new perspective and is open to the potential for collaboration.
Things to know
During these workshops you will be invited to:
- Share something about your day and/or your life as it currently is (this doesn’t have to be deep or traumatic! It can be a delightful piece of trivia as much as it can be something deep and complex)
- Do some new writing
- Share your writing
- Discuss your creative work with others
Due to the occasionally personal nature of these workshops, they will not be recorded or available on replay.
