From Max Porter’s The Death of Francis Bacon to Karen Jones’ novella-in-flash Burn It All Down, from Pascal Petit’s What the Water Gave Me to Paul Auster’s Leviathan, contemporary art has proved to be a unique source of literary inspiration.
In this workshop you’ll explore various ways art appreciation can spark new story ideas. Starting with the traditional ekphrastic approach, where a literary description of an artwork provides a starting point, and ending with more experimental approaches that focus on motifs and artistic methods of production.
The workshop will include three generative writing sprints featuring the work of three different artists.
