Writers’ HQ has partnered with Europeana.eu – a vast database of European digital culture heritage – for an ekphrastic writing workshop using inspiration from across the continent.
Find out how to dig deep into art, books, films and music from thousands of cultural institutions across Europe and use those to inspire and inform your work. We’ll look at how to use the artefacts to get deeper into your stories, and we’ll write together during guided sprints.
Europeana.eu is a practical, accessible and free online resource, funded by the European Commission. Once you start to explore it, you’ll find more ways than you can count to kickstart your stories or enhance your writing practice. Choose from millions of images, sounds, videos and texts to create inspiring writing prompts, or search the database to find answers to your research questions.
You need to be a Writers’ HQ gold star member to get your eyes on this glorious stuff.

We are trying to coax it back into existence. So far neither bribery, begging or crying has worked. We are currently trying shaking our fists at the sky and going ‘grrrr’.
