About Emma Robertson

Emma Robertson’s debut novel A Girl’s Girl is being published by Zaffre, an imprint of Bonnier Books, in June 2026. Emma has had flash and other short fiction published in a number of anthologies and literary magazines including Popshot Quarterly, Lunate, Ellipsiszine and Funny Pearls. She was one of the winners of Spread the Word’s City of Stories competition in and has been longlisted for Bath Flash Fiction Award, Cranked Anvil and the Wigleaf Top 50. Emma writes around her main career as a dance teacher for adults in London, and this unusual combination was featured in the ‘My Portfolio Career’ section of Mslexia magazine in 2023.

A Girl’s Girl is described as a perfect summer read – a beach read with a bite. Emma took the old advice of writing the book that she would like to read and as such it is stuffed with all the things she loves: flawed characters, travel and a good dollop of 1990s nostalgia.

In you pop. Lots of lovely writerly stuff awaits.

The widget that lets you sign into the forum with your WHQ login has given up.

We are trying to coax it back into existence. So far neither bribery, begging or crying has worked. We are currently trying shaking our fists at the sky and going ‘grrrr’.

You can still get to the forum though! Do this:
