Writing As Play Masterclass with Anika Carpenter

Tuesday 5 December

7.30pm - 8.30pm

Live on Zoom and available on replay

Switch off those productivity apps, arm yourselves with your favourite stationery, it’s time to play!

In this session, we’ll take a look at writers, artists and scientists who made a concerted effort to goof about. We’ll explore how playing helped to keep their ideas fresh and their creativity sparking.

There’ll also be some playtime for you in the form of some writing-for-the-joy-of-writing exercises. Let’s bring the joy!

About Anika Carpenter

Anika Carpenter writes flash fiction and facilitates the Brighton Writer’s Retreats alongside Paul Macauley.

She’s been shortlisted for the Bath Flash Fiction Award and the Bridport Prize, nominated for Best Small Fictions, Best of the Net and Pushcart Prize.

You can find her stories at Ellipsis Zine, Fictive Dream, Gone Lawn and others.

Anika spent years making art and assisting prize-winning artists, a period that informed the striking imagery in her fiction.

When she’s not at Writers’ HQ, she’s at The Flash Cabin, running flash fiction workshops and courses.
