Writing Competitions & Opportunities August 2020

August. Gah. It’s just so… <clenches fist> gusty. Or something.

It’s also the perfect time to fling some submissions out into the world. Because hahaaaa turns out we’re still in the worst timeline, summer’s been cancelled and we’re all staying inside writing sad poetry. Or whatever you’re writing.

So, we thought we’d spend that time as wisely and data-entry-based as possible and trawl the wide and dark interweb for over ONE HUNDRED writing competitions, opportunities, and excellent literary things with deadlines in August.

Scroll until your finger gets tired. Take your pick. Write something. Sub something. Add a tiny little spark of hopeful anticipation to your life. Distract yourself from the mask wars. Write that sad poetry dagnammit.

And if, along the way, you realise that you might need a bit of a helping hand with this whole writing thang, well, we’ve got your back.

Enjoy, good luck, and stay safe out there, writerbabies.
