Saddle up, peeplets, it’s time for a fresh start.
Here’s a quick ‘n’ easy writing exercise to spark off some new ideas. It’s about as simple as you can get AND YET lends itself to a numberless amount of interpretations:
ON THE FIRST DAY…
Is it the first day of the dawning of Aquarius? The first day of wearing your brand new spanky stomping boots? The first day of freedom? The first day of the apocalypse?

Spend 10 mins making a list of as many iterations of ‘on the first day’ as you possibly can. Make them as bizarre or innocuous or abstract or personal as you like. We’re not the boss of you.
Then see if one of them REALLY catches your eye and give yourself another 10 (or 20, or 30…) minutes to write about it.
Simple. New story. Just like that.
BONUS/ALTERNATIVE: If you’re already working on a novel or screenplay or whatevs then see if you can add a ‘first day’ element into your existing story.]
Now go. ‘Cause this could be the first day of a brand new story.
