Ready to dive into a fresh perspective on storytelling?

Join us for a masterclass where we’ll bridge the world of theatre with your prose writing. Your guide on this exciting jaunt is me, Paul Macauley! I’ll be sharing ideas and insight from 15 years of adventures in theatre, including acting, directing, and writing. We’ll explore how theatrical techniques can revolutionise your writing, whether you’re stuck in a rut or just eager for new inspiration.

What We’ll Explore:

  • Breathing Life into Characters
Discover how working with actors has taught me to craft characters that truly resonate. We’ll use practical exercises to deepen your characters and their motivations.
  • Unlocking Emotional Depth
Learn how theatre’s emphasis on subtext and emotional truth can infuse your prose with authenticity and depth.
  • Pacing and Rhythm
Find out how theatre’s temporal nature can help you master the pacing and rhythm of your stories, keeping readers engaged and invested.
  • Playful Writing Exercises
Engage in fun, theatrical exercises like acting out scenes and recording dialogues to bring a new dimension to your writing.

Who You Are

You’re a writer looking to breathe new life into your prose. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your character development or connect more profoundly with your readers, this masterclass will offer you fresh techniques and playful methods to revitalise your page-bashing.

What You’ll Get
